# Database conversion

This tool will help to make a painless transformation of the database of the old version of the L-Shop.

All you need to do is execute the following command in the terminal:

```bash
$ php artisan db:transfer <old DB> <new >
```

In this case, instead of *\<old DB>*, you must substitute the database name and (or) the prefix of the old version tables. And instead of *\<new DB>* - the name of the database and (or) the prefix of the tables of the new version.

So if you are going to convert and move data from the lshop database to an old table which has the *old\_* prefix in the database named l-shop, new tables of which have the prefix *new\_*, then the command will look like this:

```bash
$ php artisan db:transfer lshop.old_ l-shop.new_
```

Next, the wizard will prompt you to choose the version with which you want to "move". Select the one you need and wait until the procedure is over.

{% hint style="info" %}
Due to the fundamental differences in the structure of databases, as well as the architecture of the new and old versions, the conversion command does not transfer roles and user rights. All users will be assigned a default role. To add roles to users, use the [console command](https://l-shop.gitbook.io/documentation/console/user/attach-role).
